Well it’s that time of the season when you have to start working a little harder to avoid eating a tag sandwich. Tex and I just finished brushing in two sweet ground blinds in prime late season spots. Hopefully this property still has a monster hanging around! Stay tuned…This could be good!

Out sitting in the ground blind with Tex trying to whack a monster buck with the smokestick and paint this fresh snow red.

Just received these new custom calls in the mail from Bob Patrick at Rare Earth Predator Calls, just in time to get them warmed up for predator season! These are the most amazing predator calls on the market today with superior sound quality and several world championships to their name! It’s time to kill some dogs and paint this fresh white snow red!!

What a better way to celebrate Black Friday then out chasing Chromers on the river?
PT dragged me out this morning and is definitely in his element swinging flies for winter steelhead.
It’s a little chilly but it beats the hell out of dealing with people on this crazy day…or just about anything else.

Since my accident and subsequent shoulder injury a little over a month ago, I have been forced to “take it easy”. Doctors tell me I have something called bursitis which is basically inflammation of a joint in my shoulder at the outer end of my collar bone.
I was feeling really good coming into the first of November so I decided I would start shooting my 12 ga Benelli during the opening week of duck season. After a couple days of hard hunting, I realized I should have waited a little longer so I let it rest for another week and it starting to feel better again. I decided to start taking my son’s Rossi single shot .410 shotgun. I found some steel shot ($$$) and off I went with the crew this week killing ducks.
Let me tell you something, when you know you only have one shot, your bad shooting habits change quickly. This has been a very humbling experience for me but I think it will be well worth it. I’ve now went through a couple boxes of .410 shells and I’m off to buy more tonight….
Kill ‘em!

Pretty slow morning so far. Had a coyote at 5 yards but I couldn’t get my gun fast enough. Not hearing a lot of shots for the first Saturday of gun season. Should heat up soon….hopefully.

Well Huntography is in town and it’s time to spill some blood on Deertour 2012. Let the good times begin!

I look forward to spending a week away in the north woods with my father each season at hunting camp! This is the man responsible for my crazy hunting/outdoors addiction and love him very much! We are looking forward to getting out in the woods tomorrow morning for opening day of the 2012 Michigan gun season opener. Good luck to all hunters and stay safe!

I headed up yesterday to Michigan’s upper peninsula for the week to my families hunting camp with my farther for gun season opener. We spent today scouting some different properties and got our blinds all setup in the perfect spots. The views up here in the north woods of Michigan are breathtaking and I look forward to spending this week away each season up here.

Fall Steelhead fishing is in full swing. We hit the Pere Marquette river yesterday, and found low and clear water. We never connected with a fish, but we sure had a good time. It’s days like this that make you realize you don’t have to catch fish to have fun, but its more fun when you do.

Lots of dead King Salmon dead after spawning. They give the river this great rotting flesh scent.
