Well I was hoping to sneak out of work early to go deer hunting tonight. We have a huge storm sitting on us right now and the deer should be moving.

Unfortunately It was 5:15 before I could leave work which left me exactly 25 minutes until the end of shooting light. Not enough time for deer hunting but just enough to get into my favorite predator spot for a quick call.

I settled in behind my rifle and let out a series of cottontail distress aimed at the swamp in from of me. I called on and off for 5 minutes before I saw a coyote heading away from me 40 yards away in the thick swamp brush. It was the big dog I’ve been after for a while and damned if he didn’t beat me again.

I continued my calling sequence and after 5 more minutes a second coyote showed itself and came trotting out of the swamp 30 yards to my left stopping behind a big maple tree.

Some patience and gentle coaxing lured the coyote to 20 yards where she presented a clean head shot. I settled the crosshairs between her eyes and I watched as she dropped like a bag of rocks.

Less than 20 minutes on stand and I had 2 coyotes show up within 50 yards and had one over my shoulder on my way to the car. Goes to show that keeping your gear in your car and taking advantage of every calling opportunity can sure pay off.

Looking forward to really getting into the swing of predators soon.

We’ve been having a blast up in the beautiful wilderness of michigan’s upper peninsula. High winds put a damper on the calling conditions for coyotes today but the scenery was very enjoyable.

We’ll be up and at em early in the morning and hopefully have some fur on the snow in the morning.

Had a little time this afternoon before everyone showed up for the Super Bowl party. In a casual manner I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to go coyote hunting for a half hour since the conditions were perfect. I was pleasantly surprised when she said yes so I got stuff ready and we headed out.

We sat on the edge of a small swamp and I began calling. About 4 minutes into my sequence she came poking out of the brush looking around for the tasty rabbit she was hearing. I settled the crosshairs on her chest and the 40gr vmax dropped her in her tracks.

As i looked at the clock on my car as i pulled into the driveway it was exactly a half hour door to door. What a great hunt. It’s funny just how perfectly things happen sometimes.

Been having a blast up north predator hunting. Had a few coyotes in so far but no luck getting em in the dirt. Ready to keep on trucking tomorrow and get some fur in the truck.

Well it’s that time of the year. We finally got some cold weather and all of the deer hunters have left the woods to sit by warm fires and reminisce of our crappy deer season.

It’s that time that all of us predator hunters have been waiting for all year. Time to get outside, sit in the cold and scream like a dying rabbit….and wait for that coyote to come running.

I’m so excited I can’t hardly stand it.

Had this coyote come through the other night while deer hunting. Squeeked him into 30 yards but Tex couldn’t get a clear shot with his bow. Sure gets my blood pumping for coyote season.

Went out to some state land tonight to try and call in a coyote before our weather warms up tomorrow. I thought this spot would definitely produced a dog but nada.

I guess that’s why they call it hunting. Beautiful evening though which was amazing.

Well us Team FLG boys have been having a blast this winter chasing predators throughout Michigan. Tex piled up this nice coyote that came in with another yote the other day. Always nice to get some fur on the ground.

Man do I love predator hunting. There’s nothing like being out on a winter morning as the sun comes up over the horizon. Sure does beat sleeping in.
